Inspiration/Story

My inspiration was actually an excuse to test out the mirror texture. While thinking about the details about my murder scene I wanted it to be representative. I chose the blue colors so that it would all combine. I also wanted to give the bathroom a female look so that I wouldn't have to do I female corpse. I decided to do a female since in our society a murder of a female is totally shocking, where is a murder of a male is less shocking. I also wanted a contrast between the inside and the out. On the inside you have innocence and beauty, while on the outside you have the gritty world with the red light district. There is also an aspect of Brazil. The background is of Rio de Janeiro and the blood on the wall reads morre or die. The 'redrum' is from The Shining. The title translates to Murder in Rio.

Problems and Solutions:

One of the problems was the toilet. It was hard to get a good shape from an irregular shaped object. After various attempts I finally good a pretty good shape. Also the hands were hard. After trying for what seemed like forever I finally used one that wasn't mine. My fill kept corrupting on me and I had to set up my scene twice. That was annoying and time-consuming. To get the appearance of the red light district I used red lights. In the end it looked more like a sunset then a seedy neighborhood.

Tips

In general I like to set up my scene in modeler since it is easier to handle compared to setting it up in layout. The toilet was done with the bevel tool and the boleen tool. The bathtub was down with the boleen tool.
