Inspiration

The inspiration for my desk scene has to do with my major. I am a Communication Design Major with an emphasis in Media Arts. When I have free time I like to edit videos on my home computer. This desk scene is a configuration I would like to have when I get older. Two screens allows for bigger windows to view videos on. I also can envision a freelance editor using this desk to edit commercials or work on small parts of movie productions with graphics programs. I wanted to make a desk that I have never used before. My grandma had a wooden desk that she kept all of her stuff in. I always had a metal desk growing up and was envious of my grandma's wooden one

Problems & Solutions:

I ran into many problems while working on my desk scene. First I retrieved a few wood textures off the internet and put them into my project. The next time I opened my project they were all gone. The problem is that I saved them to the computer and not my zip disk. I went back and got the same textures, this time saving them to my zip disk. Once again I opened my project to work on it the next day in class and they were not in my project. I had moved them into a folder on my zip disk so I could turn them in. Lightwave must know the exact route to your textures or else you end up doing the work three times instead of once. The point light in my lamp was too bright and would white out the texture on the wall behind it. I lowered the intensity of the light from 50% to 25% and it looked better.
