Inspiration:

For a Media Arts student such as my-self with no previous 3D computer modeling experience and the least inclination for computers and their usage except e-mail and writing papers, this project was a trial and error venture. The majority of problems that I encountered were due to lack of experience with Lightwave.

When I started working on the desk scene I did not have a definite idea on how I wanted the final product to look like. I was not familiarized with the software so I tried to keep it as simple as possible and worked my way through it step by step, one step at a time. This is why there is no particular story behind the scene. It created itself gradually. I just followed the instructions of the assignment and tried to make it as esthetically pleasing as possible. I regarded this assignment as an opportunity to practice and discover new features of Lightwave

Problems & Solutions:

I did not encounter any major problems because I tried to keep this project as uncomplicated and trouble-free as possible. I had enough trouble with the interface trying to find the tools and/or options I needed. I started with the desk, the cup and the lamp and I used the pencil created for our 1st assignment.

I want to thank the makers of Lightwave for the Lathe tool. It was the most useful tool in putting together this scene.
