Sandra SiuDesk Scene
End of Dawn

Inspiration:

My inspiration for having this scene is my uncle's house.  So I try my best to visualize what one of the rooms can be look like the way I wanted.  It was a study room that is right next to the yard, and the house is located at the small town that has lots of plants around, which is a very beautiful place.  The room has a big glass door that I can go out to the yard and take coffee breaks from my studies.  For this scene, I tried to make the scene as real as I can, and I also designed and put the furniture I like in the scene also, which makes me like to have a room like this in the real world.

Problems and Solutions:

The first problem I had was to smooth the glasses surface because I use lathe right after sketch without smoothing the sketches first.  So I change to point mode and zoom in to the glass object, the select the points as one circle at a time to smooth the surfaces.  It's the very straight forward way, but time consuming.

The other problem I had was the background.  I tried to add background image to my scene, but I couldn't show it when I render my scene, I can only get to see the default colored back ground.  So I just added a big wall with my own image as texture behind my scene.  Then another problem occurs, I cannot place the back wall too close, it would be a big black wall behind my glass door.  But if I out it further away, I would get to see the floor.  In order to solve this problem, I just created a swimming pool to fill that gap, and then I can get to see the back ground in an appropriate distance and wouldn't get to render the default floor color.
