The Blue Room

Inspiration

I've never liked white walls. When I was growing up the walls of my rooms were always white and now that I'm a renter I'm once again stuck with white walls. I like the idea of having each room in a house decorated in a different color. When given this assignment I decided to design an office that I might like to have if I could decorate a room anyway that I would like. The desk is modeled after a desk that I saw on the Pottery Barn website months ago but don't have room for in my current living situation. I decided on blue because it gives a calm and relaxed feeling to the room. I have tons plants so I had to throw the LightWave Potted Plant in the scene. The LightWave Designer Chair 2 looked pretty comfortable so I changed the colors on it and added it too. There were a few other little things I wanted to do but didn't have time to complete. I would have liked to have a wall hanging or two and I wanted to add an electrical outlet to make it look a bit more realistic.

Problems & Solutions:

My biggest problem was that I would start designing something and I'd forget to check how big I was actually making it. A helpful tool to solve this problem is the Measure tool. It is found under the Construct menu in Modeler. It allows you to click on one point, drag to another, and get the dimensions of that area. Once you know how big or small it is you can scale it up or down appropriately..
