Jacob IveyDesk Scene
Taking a break

Inspiration

I wanted to make a scene that looked realistic and I modeled the desk to look like my real desk. I put the Imac in because I think it has a nice shape and I wanted to see if I could make it in Lightwave. I put a picture of the modeling process on the screen to bring more life to the scene, and I wanted the scene to look like someone was taking a break from their work. I wanted the room to have a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere, so I put in a dimmed torch lamp, a wine glass and a poster.

Problems & Solutions:

This was the first time trying to make anything in Lightwave, so most of the problems I had were just learning what different tools do and how to apply textures. I had a problem getting my light source coming out of my lamp. Even though the top was glass, the light wasn't shining through. This problem was fixed when I added walls that reflected the light from the lamp. I also had a hard time making the computer screen look real because when I applied the image as a texture to the screen it covered the whole thing. I fixed this by beveling the screen to give it a frame. I also gave the screen some luminosity to add more realism.
