Inspiration

I basically just pounded out a scene with things that I thought fit together well and then tried to fit a story from akira, the day when neo-tokyo explodes.  It doesn't come off as good as I would like because the background image is dark or kind of messed up by the way I set it up.

Problems

Jumping into lightwave was a difficult task, so I started out using the wineglass tutorial at www.tonyg.info that was very informative. My initial idea was to have a mirror as the top surface for my desk, and after messing around with rendering I gave up...  it would reflect like the mirror was convex even though it was a flat surface.  I also ran into a problem when lighting my lamps. I noticed there was a cone of darkness being cast from them... I had to erase the part that would hold the light bulb... and it fixed it.  Two things that still need work are the textures running in the wrong direction, which I avoided with my renderings for the most part.  And secondly put some more work into my backdrop becasue it takes light from the lamp and shadows kind of destroying the illusion.
