Sunken City - Dream Vestige of profaners

This is a story of a time when the Goddess, Gaia, reigned the over the Angels and Humans Directly.

A long time ago, there was the place called Lucinaruto. The angel of the Seas and Healing, Rapha, made the land fertile.   Over time Rapha, and a human named Crueto fell in love.  The beautiful Spring day Gaia found them together and was angered by their love born in sin.  Gaia judged that their love was unforgivable and they must be punished.

"Come here, Rapha." Gaia Called, "Rapha, do you understand the sin you have committed?"
Sobbing Rapha nod her agreement.
"For your sin I have to punish you."
"I will accept your judgement."
"Rapha, You will no longer guide man as guardian angel, you will be sent back to Lucinaruto."
"What will happen to the people of Lucinaruto? They have not sinned."

"I will create a new land far from this place.  I will give them this land to flourish and thrive.  I will give you the land that you have defiled with sin and you will live the rest of your days in solitude."
"What about Crueto?" Rapha whispered threw her tears.
"His sin is Great. Mankind cannot have be devoted to an angel, as with man.  I am sorry.  His life must end unless the balance of the world will be destroyed."
"Then why are we all here, if we cannot love people, how can we save them?"
"Rapha, your sin is not love him, but to choose to love him more. God and angels don't devote themselves to single people because we have to love equally. We must never choose to love one  person more than another.  If we do, we cannot give ourselves to everyone."
"Just let me see my love one more time."

With love and compassion, Gaia returned Rapha back to Crueto so they could be together one last time.

"I'm sorry, Crueto."
"Please do not say that. I love you. I do not care about anything else."
"Crueto I love you." Rapha sobbed in Crueto's arms.
"Rapha, don't cry I will be with you always and I will wait for you in the life after."
As Rapha began to cry she whispered into Crueto's ear, "I will be with you always."

As Rapha's tears flowed her body turned to water and flowed over the land. Her Body engulfed the land and sank Lucinaruto to the bottom of the see. Embraced by her body Crueto's body began to change.  To save Crueto from the fate that Gaia held for him she changed his body into that of a shark.  To this vary day they embrace each other in love.

Immortal Rose

Originally written by Kazuki, in Raphael

Now, love sank into the deep blue.
I said good-bye to the breeze.

I look for the answer in the time.
I am confused about you.

You are my flower of memory.
It is a sorrowful and pathetic immortal rose.

Now, love sank into the deep blue.
I said good-bye to the breeze.
Good-bye.

Inspiration:

When Our Group first met we decided that we should make a list of all possible scenes we could make.  We came up with a list that included an Egyptian crypt or Pyramid Scene, an underwater modern day Sunken City, a Greek temple or city scene as well as some others.  As we went through the list we discussed the difficulty of the scene and how we could break it up between the group members.  Finally we decided to compromise on a sunken Greek temple that a submarine was exploring.  We figured that this would give the greatest flexibility and the easiest scene to break up.

Problems and Solutions:

1.  With the construction of the submarine there was a problem with the metal bands that surround the window of the submarine. The bands did not follow the curvature of the window.   To solve the problem Eduardo used many tubes that were bended and added to the top of the submarine window, and some of the tubes were not bended totally to create the main support for the rest of the tubes that were bended before.

2.  The lights of the submarine did not appear to be lights under the water. To solve the problem of the light Eduardo modify the properties of the light :
a.  Intensity Falloff=Linear
b.  Light Color
c.  Volumetric Lighting => Effect Dissolve=50%

3.  The light of the scene was a concern. To solve the problem of the light we create five lights that provide enough light for the scene, plus a crystal object that offers some extra light.

4.  One of the problem that Yuka had, was when she created the broken base she didn't know how she can braked the vase and make it looks real. When she made a crack on it, she used the Boolean tool to subtract the part of crack, but she wanted to make the crack zigzag, and she couldn't create the zigzag object which she could use for the Boolean tool. The Solution was that after she subtracted the crack she used the drag tool and moved the point that can make the crack zigzag.

5.  To avoid delays on render, we:
a.  Minimized all the polygons on the images with the creation of simple shapes.
b.  Merged a all the points on each one of the objects.
c.  Used as many textures as we could to make it more real and simple to render.

6.  The problem that Yoko had was texture. After she created a shark, she made the
texture for the skin of the shark which has grey on the top half and white on the bottom half. After she put the texture on it, she tried to bend the shark body to express the movement, but the texture didn't work well. The skin became a horizontal stripe of grey and white. The solution was making two different surfaces. First, select points of the top half of the shark body and press "q" key to name for he surface and chose grey and also select points of the bottom half of the shark body and name for the surface and chose white. Then, you can bend it. Another solution is to put only grey or only white color for the shark skin and bend it, or don't bend the shark body which has the half grey and half white skin.

7.  One Problem that Ryan encountered was when he placed a texture on an object you could see the repetition of the image over the surface.  What he wanted was a way to randomly place the image of the surface as in other programs.  Since there is no way to do this he tried using a procedural texture like the marble one.  This gave the object too much of an artificial look.  A compromise and not a solution were to change a setting under the image texture to mirror it so that the edges would match.  This still gives a repetitive look to the surface but it is much smoother looking than if mirror was not turned on.

8.  The second Problem that Ryan had was with lights on the submarine.  When the sub was moved the lights didn't move with it.  The easiest way to fix this was to get all the objects placed correctly, and then parent them to the sub.  Sometimes this moved the objects so you just selected those lights fixed their position and then left them there.  Now as you moved the sub the lights stayed where they were supposed to.

Conclusion:

As shown here we did a great job, and we are satisfied with this result. We  spent a lot of time for this under the ocean scene, and we enjoyed creating it. Also we helped each other and improved our skills a lot.
