Inspiration:

During the summer, we had a trip to the east coast for one month.   It was actually an enjoyable and well experienced trip we had, we got to see different parts of the United States, and learn its historical background.  We had enjoyable memory in most of the cities we had visited, among which we favor the most is Chicago.  At the night we arrived in Chicago, since it was already late, we stayed in the hostel and watched a Japanese cartoon called Castle in the sky. Other than admiring the artist's work of art and the entertaining story line, the idea of a castle in the sky, was implanted in our mind. After the cartoon we were talking about how nice it would be if we could go and live in the sky, instead of ordinary life, which we have lived, since we were born. Besides, living in the sky is one more step closer to the heaven and more peaceful, without the hassle on earth. On the following day, we were visiting one of the Chicago's main tourist attractions, the Buckingham Park. Inside the park, there was a magnificent fountain and it was amazed us. That we were actually spending hours around the fountain taking pictures and watching the splashes. It was such a wonderful time we spent by the fountain, and a thought suddenly struck us that, perhaps if there may be a fountain in the castle in the sky, that we can all cherish.

Therefore, when we have to do a group project for this class, the idea we once had, has revived. Since we are creating a scene, perhaps it should be a more visualistic view of our fantasy. We decided to make a garden in the sky call it, New Heaven.  There should be a large-scale of prairie and beautiful flowers that never fade, and, of course, we would like to put the fountain inside the garden.  There are four arched doors put around the garden to represent the direction of East, West, North and South. Since we are there to enjoy ourselves, we designed a cute little gardener for taking care of the garden.

Problem and Solution:

I think like most of us, who try to make more delicate objects, in our case, flowers, especially rose. To begin with rose actually consist of 7 layers of petals and each require lathe tool, therefore, a rose by itself is rather big. To mirror the roses to a bed of roses, which I would say it was a disaster, first it crushed my computer several times after the number of roses had multiplied. After loosing the duplication of roses, I tried to save after every mirror process, finally it did get saved. Then when we try to assemble all the objects in the layout, it put the computer on pause for minutes and minutes. We actually had to reduce to number of roses in the garden to prevent more '
misfortune.' I actually try to reduce the size of the rose by cutting off the parts that were overlapping, but it turn out the rose after the overlapped by removed was actually bigger than the original one.

When Alpha was trying to draw the arched door, it was hard to have the arch shape of the door to show. Unfortunately she wasn't able to get rid of the angles to make it a smooth arch, but it actually created a unique view for the arched doors.
