Inspiration:  

I was planning on creating the foyer of my house, which looks very similar to my final project's end result.  However, my house's foyer is a bit more complex than the foyer I modeled for this scene.  I found some tutorials on creating carpet, doors, wood panels, and stairs.  On the same site, I found a some information on creating old looking paper with text on it.  I decided to use this information to create a letter explaining the circumstances of the scene.  It's cheesy, B-movie writing, but it works. :)

Problems:  

I had MANY problems in Layout, including not being able to see my textures in the perspective view, and getting lights to illuminate consistantly.  I also encountered many problems trying to get objects to appear natural using different lights.  I ended up using certain lights to illuminate certain objects by preventing certain lights to effect certain objects in the light properties panel.  Overall, the modeling portion of the project went very smoothly.
