Inspiration:

For a very long time I have created 2D art that almost always has a bit of the human element in it.  This was the first inspiration for my scene.  Creating organic models in Lightwave can be both frustrating and time consuming, which just made me want to tackle the challenge even more.  I did not want to limit myself or my imagination just because I figured something may be too hard for my skill level.  With that in mind, I decided to do an illustration of sorts, based on a highly recognizable story that is one of my personal favorites, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Scene:

I decided to set up my objects slightly different for each screenshot to give a hint of the story progressing.  There were a few more objects that I thought about adding to the scene, and given more time, I might have experimented some, but overall I am very happy with how it came out.  Probably the biggest decision of mine that sets my scene apart from many others was my decision to use Cel Shading on most all of my objects.  This gave the scene a very colorful and UNrealistic look, which is what I wanted.  The objects rendered even better than I'd originally hoped, and I think if animated they would truly shine.

Problems and Solutions:

I did a lot of editing to my models during the Layout process, and one problem I encountered a couple times was the accidental movement of something in Modeler that would throw off the entire scene in Layout.  This was only a problem of inattention, however, and although it could be a pain to fix, it taught me a valuable lesson.  Another thing I learned the importance of was saving often and making multiple copies of models in case I wanted to change Alice's posture later (which I did two or three times)
