Most of my inspiration comes from my own room at home. The desk is similar to mine, and the lamp was modeled after my desk lamp. The stein is one I carried home from Germany. I was looking to add a couple more objects and came across a key on the web. I took that idea and modeled one myself and put it in there. I wanted to see more reflections, but it didn't work as well as I hoped.

The objects in my scene include a desk, German beer stein, pencil, lamp and a skeleton key. I also made a room with a poster of Bob Dylan on the wall. Most of my effort went into the beer stein, because I did not fully understand how to texture glass. After some explanation I figured out to do separate textures on the inside and outside of the glass, and that solve my problem.

To do the desk I made one panel with proportions matching one of the panels of the desk. Then I scaled the panel on different layers to create most of the rest of it. I learned how to use the surface editor with the wood setting, and I was pleased with the results.
