MMMMMHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...PIZZA! PIZZA! PIZZA! Pizza!
Besides ordering 'zaa off the net, you can make your own.
For heck's sake! Don't order from the large commerical "pizza"
companies! It really is easy...1.5 cups of lukewarm water in
a warmed bowl (a cold bowl will leech heat from your water),
a heaping tablespoon of sugar, stir - pour in 1 packet of fast
rising yeast, cover with a cloth (wait) lift cloth and note
that the yeast is fizzin' and fuzzin' and stir it in. Add
a teaspoon or salt (stir) and start to add flour (slowly!)
stiring as you go. You'll probably use about 4 cups but just
add flour until it starts to form a sticky (not too sticky,
though) ball. Flour the counter top and kneed the dough while
sprinkling flour on it. It's a little tricky at first but with
practice you'll be flush with success after success. The dough
should be smooth and not really sticky at all before placing
it in a greased bowl (I like extra virgin olive oil - none of
trampy other oils) - cover with a cloth and leave it in a
warm spot (like near the oven). Leave it ALONE, do not poke at
it, prod or cajole the dough for at least 45 minutes!
Now comes the fun part! Spread the dough on a greased pan
and do as you will. Make it as thick or thin as you want,
put anything on it, heck! you can even make your own sauce,
too! The best pans are ones with small holes in the bottom.
Check out you local kitchen shop and buy one - it's worth
it. Even better is a pizza stone - a few more $$ but it
makes great pizza. A couple of other notes: Don't let the
water be too hot or too cold - it will kill the yeast if it's
too hot and put them to sleep if too cold. Bake the Zaas
at about 425 for about 20 minutes (turning half way through).
Everybody's stove is different, so watch those babies!
After all you work you don't want to burn them! This is an
art worth learning! You will be a man or woman about town
with many people at your door! Friends you didn't know you
had!
