This component CD-ROM includes the following documents:

Note: The Oracle8i release notes and installation guide are not included in the Oracle documentation library on the Oracle8i Server Online Documentation CD-ROM. In addition to being available on this component CD-ROM, both these documents are also selectively installable through the Custom installation type and automatically installable through all other installation types. Access those documents after installation from the Start Menu or by clicking INSTALL.HTM in the \DOC directory on your hard drive.

Your Oracle documentation set is provided in both HTML and PDF formats on a separate Oracle8i Server Online Documentation CD-ROM included in your kit. The Oracle8i Server Online Documentation CD-ROM also includes the Oracle Information Navigator, a Java-based documentation search and navigation applet. You can install the Oracle8i Server Online Documentation on your hard drive or view it from the CD-ROM. The Oracle8i Server Online Documentation CD-ROM also includes Oracle8i Migration. If you are upgrading or migrating an Oracle8i database to the latest release, read this guide before beginning the process.

To install the Oracle documentation library on your hard drive:

See the Oracle8i Installation Guide for instructions.

To view the Oracle documentation library from the Oracle8i Server Online Documentation CD-ROM:

  1. Insert the Oracle8i Server Online Documentation CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
    2. The Autorun window appears. If the Autorun window does not appear:
    1. Choose Start > Run.
    2. Enter the following:
      3. DRIVE_LETTER:\AUTORUN\AUTORUN.EXE
      The Autorun window appears.

  2. Click Browse Documentation to view the Oracle8i Server Online Documentation. The Oracle Information Navigator also starts.
