Changes After Ghosting: for all Oracle Courses

 

Subject: Modifications that should be done to each machine after re-ghosting.

Date: January 22, 2000

 

  1. Change TCP/IP settings:

·        Network Neighborhood icon in the desktop à Right Click à Properties.

·        Click Change button to Change the Computer Name.  Computer Name: change “wrong machine name” to “your machine name” which is taped on top of your system.

·        In the Network Window, select the “Protocol” tab. Select TCP/IP Protocol from the list and click Properties button. The “Microsoft TCP/IP Properties” window will be displayed.  Change the IP Address to your machines IP Address.

  1. Configure Oracle Listener and Oracle Services.
    1.  In D:\ORACLE\ORA81\NETWORK\ADMIN, edit the file listener.ora by changing any occurrence of “wrong machine name” to “your machine name”. Each machine has a tag that shows its name.
    2. In D:\ORACLE\ORA81\NETWORK\ADMIN, edit the file Tnsnames.ora by changing any occurrence of “wrong machine name” to “your machine name”. Each machine has a tag that shows its name.
  2. Configuring the Intelligent Agent.
    1. In D:\ORACLE\ORA81\NETWORK\ADMIN, delete the following files SNMP_RW.ORA and SNMP_RO.ORA.
    2. In D:\ORACLE\ORA81\NETWORK\Agent, delete the following files SERVICES.ORA, and all file of “.q” type.
  3. Restart your machine.
  4. Now, you are ready to go. 

 

Note: you should only have to do this once!!!! That is unless your machine is reghosted, of course.
