Looked for hinges again today, but had difficulty finding 2.5in 3-hole ones. Found some at OSH but these cost almost $1 more than the ones we got from Lowes ... we need 36 hinges total and only have a dozen so far. We may have to just get the ones from OSH since we really need them. Also went back to Lowes to get the machine screws for connecting the hinges to the plywood ... we are all set except for the hinges and paint!

Met with Paulene, Shaun, and Ryan - they I had some ideas for the Robocup walls last Fall 2006, but I can't seem to locate the file I store calculated measurements in! Anyway, here's what I remember:
- Plywood is typically 4x8 (4ft = 48in = 1219.2mm x 8ft = 96in = 2438.4mm).
- Official Robocup 2007 rules have the field at (4000mm = 157.5in = 13.125ft x 6000mm = 236.25in = 19.6875ft), which includes 200mm (7.875in) margin on each long side and 300mm (11.8in) margin on each short side.
- Walls will be two 2ftx4ft pieces hinged together, so each plywood sheet provides enough material for 2 walls
- need about 1 meter (about 3.25ft) clearance from edge of carpet to walls, so walls need to cover 19.625ft x 26.1875ft ...
- need 7 walls per long side, 5 walls per short side = 24 walls
- total plywood needed is 12 sheets (we'll get 13 so we have one spare)
- need 2 hinges per wall, so 48 hinges needed
- hinges need to be attached by short, flat bolts since plywood is too thin
- each wall will have a handle (jig)sawed into it for carrying
And now for the new Robocup 2007 goals ...
- Vertical poles are 100mm = 3.937in thick, 350mm = 13.8in tall; we need four vertical poles
- 55.2in long 4in PVC pipe
- Horizontal poles are 50mm = 1.96in thick, 900mm = 35.5in long (800mm = 31.5in apart); we need two horizontal poles
- 71in long 2in PVC pipe
- Plywood supports:
- backing (100mm = 3.9in tall, 912mm = 35.9in) x 2
- pole attachments (100mm = 3.93in tall, 254mm = 10in long - only 200mm = 7.875in coming out from vertical pole)
Ooops, we forgot about the beacons ...
- Use the same size (4in) PVC as the vertical bars for the goals, with each beacon being 400mm = 15.75in tall
- Color bands are 100mm = 3.937in thick from the top
