Gr Installation Instructions for UNIX If you are installing the base package, you can delete your existing Gr directory before unzipping the distribution. Unzip the distributions to the parent of the Gr directory (usually the /opt), and a Gr directory will be created within it that includes all required libraries and documentation. You may want to create an alias or a link to the /opt/Gr/gr file, or add /opt/Gr to your path. The gr file itself is a C Shell script. To run Gr, type "gr filename", where filename is the name of a file Gr recognizes. If you receive error messages, open the gr script file and check that the paths to the Gr directory and the Java directory are correct. You can also add Gr as an icon to your desktop. In general, Gr looks different on UNIX than it does on the PC, but most of the interface is layed out and behaves the same way. As of version 1.3, the Unix Java virtual machines did not recognize Gr keyboard shortcuts. This means you will have to use the menus or buttons to give commands.
