One of the purposes of The Japan Connection was to help reduce misconceptions of Westerners and non-Westerners have concerning Japan. This page and the pages to follow I hope will help to broaden the knowledge and understanding of those who read them.
Before I visted Japan for the first time I imagined Japan to be a collection of fudal villiages filled with many samuri wariors and women wearing kimonos. I also believed that all Japanese people knew karate. My image of Japan had been shaped by various influences since I was a child. I believe the influences that shaped my perception remain the same even today.
In order to better understand Japan we must not only rely on the influences of the media and the opinions of others but rather on our individual experiences and studies. In this site I will try to cover all the major categories of information which have helped me understand Japan. I have also included my own research . I welcome any input given. Please enjoy the links and resources here.
Thank you for visiting.
