Flipbook ProjectTop of Page

  • A flipbook is a book with a series of images that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by simulating motion or some other change to promote a short narrative.
  • In this assignment you'll shoot a sequence of images that tell a short story. You'll take the sequences of images using your digital camera and make a digital flipbook from those files.
  • On Friday December 15th, please turn in a copy of your storyboards. Storyboards can be on paper and stapled together or in a mirage file.
  • Your short narrative should be a minimum of 20 seconds long at a range of about 10 frames per second. Sound or music is optional.
  • Mirage 1.5 will be used to create the linear sequence for the Flipbook. Photoshop will not be used for this project.
  • Resolution for this project is 720x480 at 10 fps. You can change resolution and frame rate go to Project -> Modify Project (in mirage) to apply new settings.
  • For this project, make sure your exposures are at a lower resolution, it will speed up your processing time. Example: 1024x768 or 640x480.
  • Write a one-page paper explaining the idea for your project. What problems did you face and how did you resolve it? What successes did you have and did you achieve what you wanted? Turn in your paper in a word document format.
  • Turn in a CD with your digital flipbook file in a quicktime format and paper(word doc). Follow the file structure shown below.
