| Course Description: APCG 398 Character Maquette Modeling
Prerequisites: APCG 117
This class uses a simple approach to advanced techniques for establishing form and function of model making. Knowledge of the traditional aspects of maquette making and character design will enhance a student’s understanding and comprehension when modeling characters in 3D environment. In industry clay models are often digitized, the skills learned in this class offer the student traditional options when designing and implementing characters. Beginning with learning how to design a character, this class teaches armature construction, dynamic and neutral posing, then concentrates heavily on primary and secondary form. Students learn how to detail a maquette with skin texture, wrinkles, scales, etc. Finally, students learn how to polish models to a professional finish using a variety of techniques.
