- All units come in either a U-interface (with built-in NT1) or an S/T
(non-NT1) version
- A Pipeline 25 family runs on a 16Mhz Motorola 68302 CPU
- Both units support PAP/CHAP authentication
- Both versions have (2) POTs ports that can ring the
equivalent of (3) telephones.
- Older versions of the P25's offered an optional software
modules that now have been discontinued:

+ P25-HP-COMP: Ascend's proprietary 4:1 STAC compression
+ P25-SO-IP: Ascend's TCP/IP routing software
+ P25-SO-IPX: Ascend's Novell IPX routing software
- The Fx version supports only (1) Ethernet MAC address
- The Px version supports (4)Ethernet MAC address
- Both the Pipeline 50 and 75 supports (75) Ethernet MAC addresses
and run on a 25Mhz Motorola 68360 CPU.
- Both units support PAP/CHAP authentication
- Both the P50 and P75 support both TELNET access and SNMP
management.
- The Pipeline50 does NOT have any POTs ports where the
P75 does have two POTs ports.
- Both units support either RIP or OSPF routing protocols.
- All units prefer 'Classless' or un-numbered WANs though you can assign
IPs to the WAN interfaces in later versions.
- Allows for multiple loadable configurations!
- Allows 'Call Filters': Don't initiate a ISDN call due to a
multicast packet, etc.
- PAP/CHAP login is 16 chars
- PAP/CHAP passwd is 20 chars
- Callback abilities
- supports DHCP spoofing
- Supports a version of IPX client spoofing
- IPX routing feature only supports one frame type at one time
- IP routing (can't support IP and IPX routing simultaneously)
- Supports Ascend proprietary passwd server
Physical Interfaces:
+ power, 9-pin Serial console port, Ethernet AUI, Ethernet
twisted pair (for hub connectivity; cross cable is provided
for direct connection to a computer's Ethernet interface),
dual POTs telephone ports on the P25 and P75, RJ-45 ISDN port.
Configuration:
+ Can use a graphic VT100 interface similar to the Motorola
BitSurfr Pro product or a completely command-line interface.
- The interface is like a menu'ed command line
which prompts the user to fill in the necessary
fields.
