Quetico Canoe Works

About Our Company

Quentin C. Williams, shown here on the banks of beautiful Lake Quetico, is the owner of Quetico Canoe Works and has been building canoes for over thirty years. He started building canoes when he was just seven years old, helping out his father, Querulous Charles Williams, who started Quetico Canoe Works in 1947.

We take great pride in the craftsmanship of every canoe we build, just as you will be proud to own one of these unique and sturdy vessels.

Quetico Canoe Works offers you more than 50 years of woodworking experience built into every canoe. We use only the finest native hardwoods - northern white cedar or ash for the hand-bent ribs, western red cedar for the planking. Our emphasis on high-quality materials and our meticulous attention to detail combine to result in exceptionally sturdy and beautiful canoes. The first canoe built by Old Querulous is still used regularly by his son Quentin.

Here in our shop in northern Minnesota, seven employees patiently construct each canoe by hand, taking great care to ensure that each canoe meets the unique needs of our every customer.
