| The evaluation of employee performance is a very important tool in the workplace. If a manager possesses high emotional intelligence, he or she will be able to communicate possible areas of employee performance that can be improved upon to the employee effectively. This is very important because many people do not take criticism very well. Often criticism of performance can create resentment in the employee being evaluated. This is why the manner by which the criticism is conveyed is of great importance. Emotional intelligence in the receiver of the criticism is another key component of an employee evaluation. If the employee uses his or her emotional intelligence when evaluating the criticism it won't be seen as a personal attack but rather as an opportunity to improve his or her performance. |
