(More than you ever need to or care to know about) Racehorse Issue 1:
The first issue of Racehorse magazine was released in September 1996 and distributed primarily in the Chico area. The print run totaled 300 issues, all of which were free. Racehorse #1 contained interviews/features of the following excellent local bands; Land of the Wee Beasties, Deathstar, and Uncle Rosco. Featured artwork consisted of paintings (and article) by Caui Lofgren and a sonnet by rch. Even though we are out of copies, the entire first issue may be downloaded in its original form as a "pdf" file. Once downloaded, this pdf file may be viewed on screen using Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 2.0 or later). This software is available for free and can be downloaded from Adobe's website (click on the Acrobat button below - this will link you to the appropriate section of the Adobe site). Though this issue was designed for print (font sizes etc.), Acrobat Reader will suffice in presenting a decent representation of the original (you just have to zoom in to read to fine type). The magazine may also be printed out on your printer with Acrobat Reader (spreads fit on tabloid paper at 100%).

Tech Notes: Issue #1 was one color, 7.5" x 10" tall, 44 pgs. For the pdf files, tiffs have been resized to 72 dpi at actual size. Also, the levels of these graphics were adjusted for printed output and may appear light or grayed out on screen.

Racehorse #1 may be downloaded for use with Acrobat Reader in its entirety or in sections:
