Course Description:
The basic concepts and techniques of current and
future Expert Systems. Emphasis is on (1) the reasoning behind Expert
System design (representation and control), (2) practical problem solving
(construction of methodologies to fit the task), (3) software tools and
architectures (comparisons and use of expert system shell implementations),
and (4) advanced problem solvers (including machine learning and knowledge
acquisition).
Topics:
- Defining Expert Systems.
- History and Basic Concepts of Expert Systems.
- Building an Expert System.
- Design of Expert System Shells.
Goals:
- Become familiar with the history and potential future of Expert Systems.
- Understand the structure and design of Expert Systems.
- Use Expert System Shells to build expert systems(i.e., application).
- Compare and contrast available Expert System Tools.
Grade Evaluation Procedure:

- Paper Presentation 20%
For video students, the paper presentation would consist of
providing me the materials (slides, ect.) that you would
use if you presented the paper in class
