Smalltalk

I have some colleagues at Michigan State University who have developed some expert system shells in Smalltalk using the VisualWorks environment. You can use this software, but you need to get VisualWorks as follows:

At CSU Chico, we are using ParcPlace's VisualWorks 2.5. We have a site license to run it on the HP-9000 Series 300/400 & 700 and on the SUN workstations. Thanks to Bentley Nevada we also have this site license for Windows. And, thanks to Lawrence Livermore Labs, we also have one for Macs. Under our license, you (if you are enrolled in the class as a satellite student) may get this from us to use for the purposes of the class.

You can also check out free educational versions. Cincom Systems bought VisualWorks from ObjectShare. This version should work fine for our purposes - except that the newer versions of VisualWave do not seem to accept the GT image...and we need that. So you might have to get the one from this page

I have copies of the Smalltalk VisualWave files for the PC and the Generic Tasks image on our machines at CSUC. For satellite students, in order to have access to our machines you need a new account. Using this you can directly use ftp.

Our FTP site with additional files for the MacVersion was destroyed. If interested, ask me and I will see if I can find the original floppies.

Particularly for the Artificial Intelligence classes, /user/faculty/amk/www/foo/csci222/ has a subdirectory GT (Generic Tasks) which has the GT-PS.im

For downloads: To transfer .st files use ascii. To transfer the .im or .cha files use binary.
