Prof. Keuneke and Juliano- I am the editor of Lewis/Loftus' book "Java Software Solutions" and I'm pretty sure that you are using the 6th edition of the book in a class this Fall. Thanks for adopting the book. I wanted to let you know that there was an error made during the printing process in seven of the code listings in the book. In these listings, keywords dropped out. Some of your students may end up with these copies that were shipped to your bookstore before we caught this issue. So to make this more manageable, I wanted to let you know that: 1) We have PDFs of each of these corrected listings posted at ftp://ftp.aw.com/cseng/authors/lewis/jss6. It is called "First_Printing_Update". Along with this, there is also a list of other errata, all of which will be corrected in the second printing. 2) We will have actual printed booklets of the "First_Printing_Update" within two weeks, and I'd be happy to send you copies to give to your students. Please reply to me with your mailing address, and the number of students enrolled in your course, and I'll get you copies if you would like them. Please accept our apologies for these errors. I'm sure you know that almost every technical book has errata, even though our processes are set-up to catch as many as possible. In this case, I thought it would be best to proactively let you know about this so that you could alert your students before they came to you with questions. Thank you, Michael ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael Hirsch Executive Editor Addison-Wesley Computing www.aw.com/computing
