Vista/WebCT and Web Delivery

Steps to sign up for WebCT and add your on-campus course as a WebCT course:
Steps to view your distance course
- Once you have added the course, you will have a new link on your home Vista page to that course. You can take this link to enter the course and all of its
features will be available to you, including the archived sessions or if applicable, the live class sessions.
- To see the class live (or archived), choose the
link to get to Horizon Live (now HorizonWimba).
- This will take you to the Live and Archived index page. In this area, click on the
button if you want
to see the current live class or one of its archives. The archived classes (see below) are listed on the bottom of the page (Hmmm, sometimes the classSessions link connects
you to the choices you have for the class (tabs of live or archived). If you
do not see archived links on this current page, click the classSessions link and it
will give you the options
- you may see the HorizonLive (HorizonWimba) login screen. DO NOT login using the user name and password area! Instead, login in the student area. Use your first initial and last name as the login name. For example, Albert Einstein would be aeinstein
- this will take you to your live class session or an archived session you are interested in (tabs at the top)
Archived Classes
The use of web classes makes it easy for you when you cannot attend
the live class. Within an hour after a live class is presented, the
classes are archived. These classes will appear to you the same
as a live class. The only difference is that you cannot interact
with the class or instructor via the chat screen when you are
looking at the archived class.
The instructor still knows who "attended" the class since a record is
kept of who logs into the class (and when).
Speed
Chances are, the machines here at school would provide much better
reception and speed than 56K voiceband modems at home. (A cable modem or a DSL connection or optical link is recommended.)
