A bit about Flynn
In the SCA, my name is Flynn Riventree. My persona (not well developed)
is a traveller of sorts. My father's a merchant in an English-Welsh
bordertown. He's English, My late mother was part Welsh, part Irish. Never
been to school, I spend most of my time travelling around delivering
messages (and sometimes goods) for my father's business.
A bit about Jeff
The first event I was ever at was October Crown in the Kingdom of the West.
I woke up and stuck my head out of the tent, and I was, for a moment, in
the middle ages.
I looked across the clearing at the pavillions on the far side, At eye level
there was dewey grass and I could smell the embers of the cookfire we'd made
the night before.
One squire was hurrying across the clearing to get water,
dressed in a particolor longshirt and high leather boots, and there was no
sound other than his footfalls.
That moment brought me into the SCA, and
moments like it have kept me coming back.
Medievally, my biggest interest is in "How did they do that?"; Medieval
technology, if you will. How do you get from iron ore to iron? Sand to glass?
Twine to nets? Grain to flour? How did you do all that when they didn't have
high tech machines to make the low tech machines that we use to do those things
today?
Flynn's Travels far and wide
Until 1994, Jeff lived in Sacramento, California and Flynn lived
in Golden Rivers, in the Principality of Cynagua, in the
The West.
When Jeff moved to Germantown, Maryland, Flynn moved to the barony of
Roxbury Mill in the
Atlantia.
Flynn has attended the three Pennsic Wars
XXVII,
XXVIII, and
XXIX)
with the motley cohort known as the
Blood Moon Clan.
Then, in 2001, Jeff moved San Diego, California and Flynn came along
to Calafia in Caid. From there, the journey to Seattle took Flynn to the
Barony of Madrone
in Western
An Tir.
These days (April 2005) Jeff lives in Santa Monica, CA, and Flynn resides in
Lyondemere in
Caid.
Yeah, the name is weird
I'm still trying to get Flynn registered with the SCA. The name's tough,
since Flynn is a surname, not a given name (in general) and my requested
device is apparently in conflict with someone elses. For the record, I
asked for: Per pale, argent and azure, a blasted tree counterchanged
