College of ECT X Session -- Known bugs
- If a personal menu does not exist, vuewm generates an error in
/tmp/errorlog.username.
- Users running copies of their old .xsession file in .xhp/xsession will
not have fonts on workstations. They need to add the line
xset fp= tcp/fontserv:7000 to their .xhp/xsession file.
Fonts are fine on X terminals.
- Datebook processes sometimes don't go away when session terminates.
- Exiting without closing mail window can result in loss of changes to inbox.
- Netscape hogs colors and fonts and may result in other applications being
unable to get the fonts and colors they need.
- Audio is set SPEAKER=EXTERNAL on all systems. To get audio to
work with the internal speaker, you have to set SPEAKER=INTERNAL
in the environment prior to running applications that use audio
(e.g. netscape). Without creating your own .xhp/xsession file, you can't
get netscape to use the internal speaker when invoked from its icon.
- Audio is reported not to work at all on workstations.
- Authentication keys occasionally go away on overlapping sessions for the
same user on different stations.
- MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE doesn't work on workstations with hostnames longer than
8 characters.
- text cut-and-paste is flakey (more so than under twm)
***9/29 jg fixed by changing focus policy
- Envizex floppys are exported read/write to the world.
- When a font server is restarted, stations do not reconnect unless the
instance of xdm is also restarted. They resort to default (lame) fonts.
- Yosemite fs process repeatedly complains about not being able to allocate
sockets for listening (but continues to function).
- Monochrome support is lacking in front panel resources.
