Purpose

Our purpose is to recognize and encourage excellence in computer science, computer engineering, and other fields related to the computing sciences.

How we do this at CSU, Chico depends in great part on the current members. Some activities we have organized locally in the past include:

our semi-annual initiation banquet
tutoring services
participation in programming contests
special lectures on hot topics
peer reviews of resumes
mock interviews
bound resumes for distribution to computer firms

In addition, we hold at least one purely social event every semester, a pizza party, for example, or a basketball game.

Furthermore, your acceptance into the society will connect you with an international network of scholars in the field. The international organization sponsors programming contests, scholarships, and professional conferences.

Our most important event of each semester is the initiation banquet, at which time current members welcome the new, and we all re-dedicate ourselves to the ideals of the society. This ceremony is mandatory for admission to the society.

Because a lot of our current members graduate shortly after joining, new members have great opportunity to make a personal contribution to the local chapter as a leader or committee member. We also can put one member per year forward for a scholarship sponsored by the international organization.

From time to time we hold meetings to plan and review our activities. As an applicant, your presence and participation in our meetings will be warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated. 123Come join us...
