MSECE Computer Engineering Admission

Required Undergraduate Preparation:
A baccalaureate degree in computer or electrical engineering or a related field. Satisfactory completion of courses in the following areas:
Programming in C++ and assembly language Data structures
Operating systems Signals and transforms
Digital systems and state machine design Analog electronics
Microprocessor system design Computer interface circuits
Students who do not have all the required background knowledge may be admitted as "unclassified," at the discretion of the ECE graduate adviser. Upon successful completion of all background courses, the student is advanced to "classified" status.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

Students who score above 1700 on the GRE meet the minimum requirement. Students who score less than 1700 may be admitted if they exceptional undergraduate preparation or significant industrial experience.

Grade Point Average

Students must have a 2.5 GPA or better at the undergraduate level to be admitted fro graduate study. A GPA of 3.0 or better (on the scale A=4.0) in the last 30 semester units of undergraduate work and a GPA of 2.75 on the last 60 semester units of undergraduate work are required for admission to the MSEE degree program.

TOFEL (for International Students)

The minimum score for admission to the University is 550 (213 computer based exam). Students who score between 550 and 599 (213 and 247 computer) are required to take EECE 335 their first semester at Chico.
