EECE 211L: Linear Circuits I Activity
Corequisites:EECE 211
Required for EE, CMPE and MECA majors
Catalog Description:
Experiments to reinforce the principles taught in EECE 211. The
combination of EECE 211 and EECE 211L is equivalent to CAN ENGR
6. Formerly ECE 095L.
Course Objectives:
- teach students how to use electronic equipment at an
introductory level
- build and test basic electronic circuits; compare results
with theory
- write reports summarizing laboratory work
Course Outcomes:
Students shall be able to:
- work as part of a two or three person team to construct
introductory level circuits involving power supplies, signal
generators, resistors, capacitors, inductors, and diodes
- measure resistances, currents and voltages using a
multimeter
- measure periodic signals including their amplitudes,
periods, and phase shifts using an oscilloscope
- measure bandwidth, Q, and resonant frequency of a series
RLC circuit
- experimentally determine the V-I characteristic curve for a
diode
- construct and measure the response of a diode
rectifier
- construct and measure the characteristics of a single stage
transistor amplifier
- write a laboratory report for each experiment that includes
a discussion comparing experimental and theoretical
results
Class schedule:
- One hundred minutes a week activity
Contribution of Course to Meet the Professional
Component:
- Engineering Science: 1 units
Relationship of Course to Program Outcomes and
Objective:
This course makes significant contributions the following
program outcomes:
- An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
- An ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering
problems
- An ability to communicate effectively
This course supports the achievement of the following elements
of the program objective:
- Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to
identify, formulate, and solve computer engineering
problems
- Use industry standard tools to analyze, design, develop and
test computer-based systems containing both hardware and
software components.
- Work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary
development team and undertake leadership roles when
appropriate.
- Communicate their thoughts, in both written and oral forms,
so that others can comprehend and build on their work.
