EECE 101:Introduction to Electrical and Computer
Engineering
Prerequisites: Permission of
instructor
Required for EE, CMPE and MECA majors
Catalog Description: Survey of
topics from the fields of electrical and computer engineering.
Applications of critical thinking to the solution of engineering
problems. Using the computer and sensors to control mechanical
devices. Formerly ECE 084.
Course Objectives:
- teach students how to study engineering
- introduce students to the electrical and computer
engineering professions
- introduce students to the concepts of system design and
development
- introduce students to software tools used by EECE
students
- inform students of the options available to EECE
students
- show the importance of lifelong learning and
professionalism in engineering
Course Outcomes:
Students shall be able to:
- use campus email to communicate with faculty and other
students
- know the importance of seeing a advisor
- know the faculty who make up the EECE department
- speak to group
- know important study skills for engineers
- see how engineers are confronted with ethical choices and
professionalism
- work on a team to design, assemble and program simple
robots
- use MATLAB to calculate and plot functions
- use LogicWorks to simulate the operation of a simple
digital circuit
- use PSpice to simulate a simple electronic circuit
Class/Laboratory schedule:
- One hundred minutes a week lecture and activity
