The B.S. in Manufacturing Technology requires a total 128 units which includes all major and general education (GE) requirements. The University publishes a new catalog in odd numbered years. Some changes have been made to the requirements in recent catalogs.
The curriculum can be viewed in two formats. The flowchart format shows the recommended semester for taking each course as well as showing the course prerequisites. The tabular format shows the recommended semester, but does not include prerequisites. To view the curriculum specified in recent catalogs, click the corresponding blue link below. (Caution: Flowcharts and tables for earlier catalogs may contain information which is no longer applicable such as course prerequisites or the semester in which courses are offered.)
Manufacturing Technology is a high unit major with modifications to the normal University GE requirements. The modifications are included on the flowchart and table above. They are also listed in the University Catalog. The GE requirement has three components: 1. The lower division breadth requirement 2. The upper division theme requirement 3. The cultural diversity requirement
The lower division breadth requirement is divided into five areas: A, B, C, D, and E. Many of the requirements in these areas are satisified by courses required for the Manufacturing Technology major. The courses listed below, together with the courses required for the Manufacturing major, fulfill the lower division GE breadth requirement. 1. Three courses, one from each of the Core Areas A1, A2, and A3. 2. One course from Breadth Area B2. 3. One course from Breadth Area C1 or C2 or C3. 4. One course from Breadth Area E.
The normal University GE upper division theme requirement is modified for Manufacturing Technology majors. To view all the themes as they apply to Manufacturing Technology majors click here.
The University GE requirement includes a Cultural Diversity component. To satisfy this requirement, one must take two courses, one classified as an Ethnic course and another classified as a Non-Western course. Some of the courses satisfying other GE components (lower division breadth and the upper division theme) are also classified as Ethnic or Non-Western. If one of these are taken, then that course can be used to satisfy two GE requirements. The flowchart and table above presume that the Cultural Diversity requirement is satisfied by taking courses in other components of GE which are also classified as Ethnic and Non-Western.
At least one year prior to graduation you must submit a completed Major Clearance Form to the Department Office and an Application for Graduation to the Office of Admissions and Records.
