Industry Advisory Board

The Industry Advisory Board (IAB) for the ECE department consists of professionals recognized for their accomplishments in the field of electrical or computer engineering, who will provide their guidance in order to enhance the quality and direction of the ECE programs.

The Industry Advisory Board is to advise the faculty, students, and administration in order to improve the quality of the program. The Board will be asked to provide input for consideration by the department regarding the curriculum and laboratory development, suggest areas of research, and help promote alumni activities as they relate to the educational mission of the department. Board members will also be expected to help maintain effective communication with the Electrical and Computer Engineering community so that the University can better meet the needs of our students’ future employers.

The IAB normally meets with the ECE Chair (faculty and staff are encouraged to attend) twice a year, once during the fall semester and once in the spring, and its scope of recommendations to the department includes:
  • Review existing academic program and laboratories and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Review program assessment instruments, measures and outcomes. Use assessment results to guide program improvement.
  • Assist in identifying new areas in which research activities should be initiated.
  • Serve as a sounding board for new ideas and activities.
  • Assist in the formulation, structure and priority setting for future development, endowment, and scholarship programs.
  • Provide guidance for strengthening alumni and friends’ relations for the program including:
            a.  Recognition for outstanding graduates and friends of the program
            b.   Disseminating public relations information
            c.   Development of special programs or services
  •  Assist in promoting professional relations between the Electrical and Computer Engineering program and the industrial and business community.
  • Assist the Department in its communication efforts with various constituents representing the general public, CSU, Community Colleges, and K-12 education.
