As a high-unit major, Civil Engineering is provided with many General Education substitutions. Consequently, CE majors do not need to take the same quantity and distribution of GE courses required of other students.
Several resources are available to assist CE majors with selection of appropriate GE courses
The Civil Engineering Major Academic Plan lists all of the requirements required to satisfy General Education.
The University Advising Office maintains a list of all available GE courses, which is useful for selecting courses of interest to individual students.
Since CE majors only need to take two courses to complete their Upper Division Theme requirement, rather than the normal three courses, it is important that they take the correct two courses. A list of applicable theme courses is maintained by the department.
