Group Turnover Scenario

Introduction

Your group is part of the software development segment of a fortune 500 company.  With the downturn in the economy your company has had two rounds of layoffs.  Rumors have been circulating that another round of layoffs is coming in the spring.  One member of your group has decided to leave the company and take a position at another company that has weathered the economic downturn a little better.  Your colleague is excited about the new challenge and believes job security will be better at the new company.  You and your fellow group members are left to continue forward with your software development project.  Upper management has made it clear that the loss of your team member cannot delay the software development schedule.  Your team must continue with the project and deliver it on time with all the features originally planned.  At the urging of your project manager, upper management has reassigned someone from another group to replace the team member who has left.  It is unclear how well the new team member’s skills will fit with your team’s needs but you must make the best of it.

The Task

Your new group must generate a new plan for the development of your software project.  The new plan must include a breakdown of the tasks left to complete and the person or people assigned to each task.
